| PIC-HEAVY! Last week was a busy, but fun-filled week of automotive activities. 6/27: Wednesday night drags at Sears Point Raceway. 6/29: Thunderhill track day with HookedOnDriving 6/30: Blackhawk All-Datsun/Nissan car show A bunch of us met up Wednesday afternoon at Z Car Garage, in San Jose. We had two Z32TTs (mine and Rob's from ZCG), two Z33s, SRT-4, C5 Z06, Miata, and Dodge Magnum R/T:

This turbo had a del Sol wrapped around it, and was making 10s passes spinning the tires with 135mph traps - yikes!

I was making relatively consistent 11.7s passes at 125mph at 18-19psi of boost with 1.7-1.8 60's. This was bracket racing, so I dialed-in 11.5s (anything quicker and I get kicked out, as I don't have sidebars in my car). Here is one 11.7s vid which advanced me to the semi-finals: My 3rd gear was giving up, and you can see in this vid that I missed 3rd gear, but somehow still pulled it off. You'll have to ignore the cheering section: If you listen carefully enough, you can hear the announcer and the crew say "Rob" and yelling "go Rob". I actually got eliminated in the first round with a -.014s red light. Rob, also in his black Z32TT, made 4 successful runs. Between his fourth and fifth runs, we swapped the numbers from his car and put them on mine, allowing me to hop back in line. I won 4 more times, and lost in the finals while missing both second AND third gears. :( Here is the very disappointing finale'. Rob and I shared the 2nd place trophy:
You can flip through all the pics and vids at your own leisure. From there, it was off to Thunderhill with a Z33 friend. I also took the Z33, as we're working on a custom and conservative tune for my Z32 for road courses. Early-morning departure from San Jose for the drive up to Willows, CA:

I kid you not, this was the most expensive car show, err, track day, I've ever been to. Take a look at the talent:

A little bent here and there, and lots of dust; but otherwise all was ok:

The week ended with the Annual Blackhawk Nissan/Datsun show that John and others have posted pictures of already. I've included a few additional pictures below. Rob's GO GA 510 took first in the 510 category, Alvin's (same guy) roadster took first in the roadster category, and I managed to squeeze out a 2nd place finish in the modified Z32 category. The orange Z32 and the black WB vert "tied" for first. Rob has built two incredibly beautiful GO GA Green Datsuns. On the left is his RB25-powered 240Z, and on the right is his SR20DET-powered 510:
